Went to a local game cafe and changed my mind about party games
I always hated party games. Thought they were all just random luck with no strategy. But last Friday my buddy dragged me to The Dice Den over on 5th Street. They had a group playing Wavelength and I watched them guess each other's clues for 20 minutes. The way people read each other's thinking was way deeper than I expected. I actually joined a round and had a blast. Has anyone else been surprised by a game they swore they'd hate?

Man, I feel you on that. I had the exact same thing happen with a game called Decrypto, thought it was gonna be dumb but once I saw how people talk around clues it clicked. It's wild how those games can totally flip your expectations.

Feel you on that initial skepticism, party games get a bad rap for good reason. Wavelength really stands out because it’s more about intuition and knowing your crew than just random luck. Did you get a chance to try any other games while you were there?

That's awesome you gave it a shot. Totally get the initial hate though, most party games feel like rolling dice and hoping for the best. Wavelength is one of those rare ones where the skill is in reading the room and your friends' brains, which is way more satisfying than it sounds. Still not touching Cards Against Humanity though, that game is just mean-spirited randomness. Were there any other games at the cafe that looked interesting?
