Got told my fit-up rods were way too small by a lead on a job in Baton Rouge last spring

I was on a big boiler drum project and kept fighting with gaps that were off by a sixteenth. The lead walked over and told me I was using stubby little rods that didn't give enough wiggle room. Switched to longer 3/16 rods and suddenly everything lined up way cleaner. Has anyone else had a simple rod size change fix their fit-up problems?

Yeah man, same thing happens with golf clubs. Small changes make huge differences.

@anthony129 exactly, and it's the same with fishing rods too - that tiny flex difference can make or break your whole day on the water.

Over a hundred bucks for a rod that's a fraction of an ounce different, and people swear it changes everything? I've used a ten dollar Walmart special for years and caught plenty, so I'm not convinced it's that big a deal.
