Hot take: that stubborn flange on the old Cleaver-Brooks unit in the Portland plant
Spent a whole shift trying to free it with heat and a beater, swore it was fused. Came back fresh the next morning, tapped it twice with a 4-pound sledge and it popped right off. Ever have a job where you just needed to walk away for a bit?

Yeah, I used to think that was just an excuse for giving up. Like you had to just power through no matter what. But man, after the third time a stuck bolt came loose first thing in the morning, I had to admit it. Your brain just needs to reset, or the metal needs to settle, or something. Walking away is part of the job.

Right? So is it the brain resetting or the actual metal changing?

Honestly, it's probably just luck. You try the same thing enough times and it eventually works, right? The metal isn't changing, @the_faith. It's just random chance that makes it seem like walking away helped.
