My $200 torque wrench quit mid-job on a 30 inch vessel flange in Gary, and now I'm done trusting click types

The click never came at 300 ft lbs last Thursday so I kept pulling until the stud stretched, and I'm switching to a beam style before the next turnaround, has anyone else bailed on click wrenches after a near miss like that?
