Overheard a Boilermaker at the union hall say he never checks his harness straps

Tbh I was grabbing coffee at the hall in Gary last Thursday and this older guy was bragging about skipping strap inspections for 6 months. Said he just trusts the hardware. That scared me because even a little fray or UV rot on a strap can snap under load, and I've seen a 200 pound worker hit deck plates from 15 feet up back in 2018. How often do you guys actually swap out your harness straps, or am I the only one who replaces mine every 2 years no matter what?
