Spent 5 hours chasing a leak on a 3-inch tube in Gary last week

I was working on a job replacing a section of boiler tube at a plant in Gary, Indiana. The weld looked fine to me, but the pressure test showed a tiny leak that took forever to find. Turned out it was a pinprick on the back side of the tube where I hadn't ground the bevel down enough. Has anyone else had a small thing like that eat up half a day?

Had a buddy spend almost a whole shift on a 2-inch line once. Same deal, tiny leak right where the bevel met the back side of the weld. He was about to rip the whole thing out when he spotted it with a mirror.

Man that ALWAYS happens on the back side where you can't see it.
