Switched from 6010 to 6011 root passes on a rusty tank in Gary, and I'm not going back
Everyone at my local keeps telling new guys to stick with 6010 for open root work no matter what. I tried 6011 on a patched tank job in Gary two months back because the fit-up was ugly and dirty, and the arc held way steadier for me. I'm not saying it's right for every joint, but acting like one rod covers all situations seems off. Has anyone else run 6011 on roots where the metal was rough and had it work out better than expected?
