Why I stopped using those fancy magnetic jigs for shell fit-up
I was in a fab shop near Gary last month watching a kid set a 3/4" shell course with one of those $200 magnetic jigs, and the seam gap looked like a snake trail. Meanwhile I've spent 15 years using the same $15 angle iron clamps my old foreman taught me on a job in East Chicago back in 09. Everyone swears by the magnets now, but they slip when the plate heats up and you get a bad root. Anyone else stick with the cheap stuff and just deal with the extra setup time?
