Just read that the first Harry Potter book was rejected 12 times before it got published
Found that stat in a footnote of a literary agent's blog post. Makes you wonder how many good books we miss because of that initial 'no', right?

Actually that first rejection can be a good wake up call. It forces you to improve your idea or try a different angle. Sometimes a quick no saves you from a bigger letdown later.
