My aunt told me to skip the last chapter of our book club pick

We read 'The Silent Patient' last month, and my aunt, a huge mystery fan, said the twist at the end was cheap and ruined the whole story. She told me to just stop at chapter 40. I finished it anyway and, wow, she was totally right. The ending felt rushed and made me dislike the main character. Has anyone else read a book where the final part just wrecked it for you?

Ugh that's the worst feeling, when you wish you'd listened. I read this thriller last year where the killer's motive was just "they were crazy all along" and it felt so lazy, like the writer ran out of ideas. Totally deflated the whole creepy build up for me.

Oh no, that's so frustrating! I get what @milacraig means about a lazy motive ruining the build-up.
