My book club picked Sourdough over Klara and the Sun and I almost walked out

We had a vote for our next read and it was split right down the middle between Robin Sloan's Sourdough and Kazuo Ishiguro's Klara and the Sun. I pushed hard for Klara because I love AI stories but the group went with the food one. After three chapters I actually got hooked on the baking descriptions and that quirky robot chef. Has anyone else been surprised by a book they didn't want to read at first?

Three chapters in and you almost walked out over a book club vote? That's a pretty low bar for dramatic exits, man.

Respectfully disagree, man. A book club vote that goes against what you signed up for can feel like a red flag early on. Sometimes it's better to trust your gut and not waste time on a group that's clearly not your vibe.

Three chapters does seem a bit early to be that upset about it, @miles_roberts. Maybe give it another meeting or two before deciding the whole group is a waste of time. It's just a book club vote, not a life or death situation.
