Our book club's fight over 'The Great Gatsby' made me see the whole thing differently
We read it two years ago and half the group thought Gatsby was a tragic hero, the other half called him a creepy stalker. The debate got so heated we almost stopped meeting. Then last month, we read it again with three new members. This time, the talk was all about the American Dream and class, not the love story. The change happened because our leader, Sarah, made us all write down one quote about money before we talked. It forced us to look past the romance. Has your club ever had a book that felt totally different on a second read?

Sounds like your book club needed a financial advisor more than a lit crit guide.

Financial advisor"? Wait, what kind of book club were they running? That sounds way more intense than just talking about the plot.

Our old book club spent half the meeting time just trying to split the cost for snacks and wine. It got so complicated we needed a spreadsheet. I totally get why a financial advisor would have been useful.
