Serious question, did anyone else's group blame the book when the real problem was how we picked them?
Ten months into running my Tuesday group at the Ferndale library, I finally noticed we'd bailed on 4 of our last 6 picks in the first 40 pages, and it turned out our voting system let the two fastest readers push through dense stuff the rest of us dreaded, so we switched to a blind page-50 test and the bail rate dropped to almost nothing, but I'm wondering if that's just hiding a bigger issue with how we talk about books we don't finish.
