Showerthought: my book club got into a 25-minute fight over the word 'caesura' at a diner in Akron
Last Tuesday our group met at a 24-hour diner off Route 8 and someone brought a poetry collection with a footnote on caesura, which turned into a full argument about whether you should look up words while reading or just push through. Linda pulled out her phone and read the definition out loud, and Dave said that ruined the poem for him. Now we have a rule that the person who picked the book gets final say on side tangents, but I am not sure it will hold. How does your group handle it when one small word hijacks the whole night?
