Someone in my book club said I talked too much, so I changed how I lead discussions

At our last meeting in Portland, one member finally told me I interrupt people when I get excited about a theme. I realized they were right, I was cutting off quieter folks who had good points. Now I count to 3 before I speak and I write down my thought so I don't forget it. Has anyone else gotten feedback like that from their group, and did you actually stick with the change?

Count to 3 before I speak" - oh man, that hits hard. I got told something similar at my knitting circle last year, except the feedback was that I monologue like I'm narrating a nature documentary. I tried the writing-it-down trick too, and honestly it works about 60% of the time, the other 40% I just end up reading my own notes to myself like a crazy person and missing the whole conversation. The counting thing is great until I get really excited about a plot twist and then I just skip from 1 straight to blurting. I will say it gets easier, but I still have those nights where I drive home thinking, "yep, I did that again." At least you're self-aware enough to actually try, that's more than most book club talkers do.
