That librarian in Austin who said audiobooks don't count as reading
I was grabbing a stack of thrillers at the downtown Austin library when the clerk told me audiobooks aren't real reading because you don't 'process the words.' I've finished 14 audiobooks this year alone and felt like I'd been slapped. Has anyone else gotten crap from a book snob for using audio?

honestly who cares if someone counts it or not, you're still getting the story either way. gatekeeping how we enjoy books is just silly.

Agree so hard lmao. I once counted a book as read just because I skimmed the last chapter in the car and told myself it counted, and honestly I still remember more from that one than some whole books I read cover to cover. People really act like there's a book police coming to check your reading log or something. Like sorry I didn't pass the official "did you really read it" test with flying colors, guess I'll go sit in the corner with my ungraded book report lol. It's reading not rocket science, just let people enjoy the ride.
