Tried reading ahead and prepping questions for our book club meetings, it actually worked
I got tired of our discussions dying after 10 minutes because nobody had anything to say. So for our last meeting on a 400 page thriller, I read the first half twice and wrote down 3 questions about character motives. It helped me steer the chat when things stalled. Has anyone else found a way to prep that keeps the group talking longer?

Basic prep beats awkward silence any day.

Wait, there's people who don't prep for basic stuff...?

Has anyone else ever had that moment where you prep a whole conversation in your head and then the other person says something totally different and you're just stuck there with your prepped lines? I once spent a whole car ride planning how to ask my neighbor about his dog, and when I finally saw him he started talking about his new lawn mower. So yeah, I'd rather have a few awkward pauses than be that person trying to force a conversation about golden retrievers when someone's clearly excited about their John Deere.
