I judged a beat-up romance novel by its cover, then it wrecked me at 2am
Picked up this faded paperback called The Stationery Shop from a swap bin at the Portland library last Tuesday, figured it was just some fluffy thing. By Thursday night I was crying on page 204 over a tea house scene in Tehran that hit way too close to home. I used to think historical fiction was boring, but this one made me question why I ever skipped that whole genre. Anyone else find gold in a book they almost passed on?
