My bone folder snapped clean in half yesterday while I was doing a tight crease on a 500-page novel
It was a cheap bamboo one I got in a starter kit off Amazon for like 12 bucks, and now I'm wondering if I should just get a Teflon one or try making my own out of deer antler like that guy on YouTube showed.

Oh wait, @taylor.sean mentioned that oak one working well, but did you have to treat it with anything special to keep it from drying out and cracking over time?

Man I snapped a cheap bamboo one last year too, but not even on paper. I was trying to pry open a stubborn glue joint on a picture frame and it just gave up. Teflon ones feel too slick to me, like they slide around too much. I actually carved one out of a piece of oak from a broken chair leg and it's been solid for years. That deer antler idea looks cool but I bet it smells awful when you're sanding it down. Plus you gotta worry about splinters if you don't seal it right. Just grab a solid wood one from a craft store, you'll be set.

Did you try boiling the bamboo one to make it more flexible before you broke it? I've heard that can help with cheap tools but I've never actually tried it myself.
