Old timer told me my paste was too thin during a workshop in Portland last spring

He said I was flooding the spine instead of building a solid adhesive layer. So I doubled my paste thickness and started waiting 10 extra minutes between coats, and my spines stopped cracking after 6 months. Has anyone else gotten radically different results just from adjusting paste consistency?

lol "flooding the spine" - sounds like a pretty dramatic way to put it. I just slap on paste and hope for the best, never really noticed that much difference either way.

Did you find the waiting time made a bigger difference than the paste thickness itself?

Wait you actually timed the drying between coats? That's wild dedication lol.
