Saw a clever hinge fix at the London bindery expo last week

Was walking the floor at the London Bookbinders Collective trade show on Saturday and one stall had this trick for reattaching a loose board hinge using linen tape and wheat paste, but they let it dry under a weight for 6 hours instead of the usual 2. The guy said it cut their repair callbacks by about 40 percent on old encyclopedias. Has anyone else tried longer drying times on hinges, or is that overkill for standard hardcovers?
