Showerthought: My old mentor told me to stop buying PVA in small bottles and I wish I had listened sooner
Back when I was learning to case in books at a little studio in Boise, my mentor Ruth watched me squeeze glue from a tiny 4 oz bottle and told me to just buy the quart and decant it into a squeeze bottle with a fine tip. I ignored her for about 8 months because I thought a quart would go bad before I used it up. Then I did the math and realized I was paying almost $3 per ounce on the small ones versus about 60 cents per ounce in bulk. The bigger thing was the tip, because a fine metal nozzle gave me way more control on spine glue up than the fat bottle opening ever did. My headbands stopped getting sloppy after that. Anyone else have a mentor tip they brushed off and later felt silly about?
