Got a 10 year old peace lily that just refused to bloom for 2 years straight.
Threw it in a dark closet for 3 days by accident and it finally popped out a flower, so I guess neglect is the secret now - anyone else have a plant that only thrives when you ignore it?

Honestly, have you noticed how that works with so many things in life? Ngl, my snake plant is the same way. I watered it once last year and it practically threw a fit. But when I forgot it in the corner of my bedroom for three months, it grew three new leaves. Tbh it's like people sometimes. The more you hover and try to fix everything, the worse it gets. But when you just step back and stop caring so hard, things sort themselves out. It's weird how a little neglect can actually be the secret sauce for growth.

Yeah, the "hover less, grow more" thing is real. I basically ignored my pothos for six months and it took over my whole bookshelf.

@murray.drew nailed it with the pothos. They're basically succulents in disguise, right? My peace lily was the same deal. Forgot to water it for 3 weeks during a move. Came back and it had 4 flowers. The thing is, most houseplants are like that. They're sold as needy, but they're actually survivors from jungles or deserts. They want to grow but we mess them up by overdoing it.
