Got tired of my fiddle leaf dropping leaves every winter, so I tried the shower trick and it actually worked
My fiddle leaf fig used to hate me every single winter. It would drop like 4 or 5 leaves a month starting around November, and by February it looked like a sad stick with maybe 6 leaves left. I tried moving it closer to the window, I tried a humidifier, nothing helped. Then my aunt in Milwaukee told me she just puts hers in the shower once a week and lets the bathroom get all steamy for 20 minutes. I figured it was a bunch of nonsense but I was desperate so I gave it a shot. I put it in the tub every Sunday morning, ran the hot water, and just let it sit in the steam while I got ready. Three months later and it has 9 new leaves and hasn't dropped a single one. The bathroom gets crazy humid and my plant seems happier than it ever was by the window. Now I'm wondering if I should do the same thing with my calathea that's been looking rough since October.
