Just tried a 10-10-10 fertilizer vs a slow-release one on my hostas

The slow-release stuff from Espoma gave way more even growth over 6 weeks, while the other one burned the leaf edges. Anyone have a different brand they swear by for shade plants?

You mentioned Espoma's slow-release burned your hostas. I've actually had the opposite problem where that brand didn't give my plants enough of a boost. I've found a quick-release fertilizer, applied at half strength every two weeks, gives me much fuller leaves without any burn.
