My friend in Portland showed me a dandelion wasn't just a weed

She pointed out how every part is edible and made a salad right there in her yard, which completely flipped my view. Anyone else have a plant they totally misjudged at first?

Totally get that lol. Used to think hostas were just boring leafy things for fancy gardens. Found out you can eat the young shoots in spring, they taste like a cross between asparagus and lettuce. Felt pretty dumb for all the years I just walked past them.

Yeah, the hosta thing is wild. It's crazy how many "landscaping" plants are just free food waiting around.

Always thought purslane was just some annoying ground cover. Tried it in a salad last summer (tastes kinda lemony and crunchy) and now I'm actively looking for it in my yard.
