My grandma told me to water my fiddle leaf fig with leftover tea

She swore the tannins would make it grow, but after a month the leaves got these weird brown spots. Has anyone else had a plant react badly to something like that?

Oh wow, I used to swear by using coffee grounds for my ferns. My mom always did it. But then I tried it on a new Boston fern and the soil got this weird crust and the tips turned crispy brown. I had to repot the whole thing with fresh soil to save it. Sometimes those old tricks backfire.

Yeah, those old home remedies can be a real gamble. Tried watering a peace lily with leftover seltzer water once because someone said the bubbles would help. It just sat there looking sad and the soil got this weird, sticky film. Had to flush the pot out for a week to get it back to normal.

Man, I used to think coffee grounds were magic for plants too.
