One customer's comment fixed my whole plant watering routine

I used to water my monsteras and pothos on a fixed schedule, every 3 days without fail. A guy picking up his dog last month saw me drowning a peace lily and said 'you know they hate wet feet, right?' I switched to checking the top 2 inches of soil with my finger before anything gets a drink. Now my plants in Boise actually survive the dry winters instead of rotting from the roots. Anyone else ditch the calendar method for the finger test?
