Seeing purple loosestrife clog up the creek behind my house has me worried

I was checking the creek bank last week and saw patches of purple loosestrife starting to spread. From what I've learned, this plant can really mess up water flow and crowd out the plants that local wildlife need. It grows so fast that it can block whole sections of a stream. I tried pulling some out by hand, but the roots are deep and it just comes back. Your mileage may vary, but in my area, it's becoming a common sight in wet spots. If you have a similar water feature near you, keep an eye out for those tall purple spikes. Getting rid of it early is key before it takes over. Let's share tips on how to manage it without harming other plants.

I used to think it was just decorative, but seeing it crowd out everything else changed my mind.

Actually @the_faith, crowding out can be a GOOD thing sometimes.

Wait, is it really that big of a deal though? It's just a plant spreading like plants do. Sounds a bit overblown to act like it's some kind of emergency.
