Shoutout to the person who warned me about jade plant overwatering
Got a jade plant from a friend 8 months ago. Watered it weekly like my other succulents and it started dropping leaves left and right. Turns out jade plants need way less water in winter - took me 6 months to figure that out. Anybody else kill a plant by being too nice to it?

My own jade plant story is similar but different... I had mine in a tiny pot that was way too big for it and it just sat there looking sad for like a year. Then I moved it to a smaller terracotta pot and suddenly it started growing like crazy. Plants are weird like that where you think you're helping them but really you're just making things worse. I still catch myself overwatering my succulents sometimes because I feel bad when the soil looks dry.

Overwatering succulents is a hard habit to kick. We all want to be good plant parents but sometimes less is more. Let the dirt dry out completely and your jade will thank you.

Hey @nancy817, does anyone else's cat knock over their jade plant every time they water it?
