That $60 moisture meter lied to me for six months
I bought a fancy digital moisture meter for my indoor plants back in March and trusted it over my finger. Turns out the cheap probe was reading dry soil as wet, so I kept holding off on watering. My monstera dropped half its leaves before I figured it out. Anybody else ditch the gadgets and just go back to sticking a finger in the dirt?

Jaw dropped when I read about your monstera losing half its leaves... that's brutal. I had a similar thing happen with a cheap soil meter that kept telling me my snake plant was bone dry when it was actually soaking wet, so I overwatered it into root rot. The whole thing about trusting a gadget over your own senses just feels so backwards now. I've gone full finger-in-the-dirt mode for everything, even my picky calatheas, and honestly they've never looked better. Crazy how we'll pay money to ignore what our hands already know...
