Threw $120 at a fancy soil thermometer that broke in two weeks

I figured a $12 one would be junk but the expensive digital one from a garden catalog died after I dropped it once in wet dirt. What cheap botany tool have you guys actually had good luck with?

Did you hear that cheap moisture meters from hardware stores actually last longer than the fancy ones?

My $15 one from Lowe's outlasted my buddy's $200 model, @the_faith.

Oh totally, I swear the universe has a built-in "jinx factor" where the pricier the garden tool, the faster I'll break it (usually by tripping over my own feet, not gonna lie).
