Tried terrariums for 2 years, a soggy fern finally converted me

Last month my last potted fern rotted out because I kept overwatering it, same as always. I had sworn off closed glass setups since 2021 when my first one grew mold within a week. Then my neighbor in Austin showed me her 3 year old terrarium with a self sustaining mini fern and moss, all sealed up. She explained the water cycle and how the glass handles moisture, so I built my own on Saturday with an old fishbowl and gravel. Anyone else who failed at regular houseplants find terrariums way more forgiving?
