Used to press every leaf flat in a phone book, now my wildflower pile is just a shoebox
When I got into this around 2009 I pressed everything in my mom's old dictionary and waited a whole month to peek. Now I just toss clippings in a shoebox with a sheet of newspaper and swap the paper every 2 days, way less fuss and honestly the stems keep their color better. The old way felt more serious I guess, like I was doing real science, but most of those dictionary pages ended up stained brown anyway. Now I sketch a quick note on the box lid with the spot and date, and that little habit has helped me way more than any fancy press. Curious if anyone here still does the heavy book thing or if you all went loose like me?
