I finally got my first full course done in one day after 14 years on the trowel
Last Wednesday I laid a 30 foot run of block along the back wall of a garage off Delmar Ave and finished the whole course before lunch, which never happens to me. I set up my corner blocks the night before, mixed my mortar a little wetter than usual, and used a string line I actually took the time to double check. My boss walked over at noon expecting to see me still fighting a low spot, and he said "guess the old dog figured out the string." It wasn't a fancy trick, just me stopping the bad habit of chasing the line as I go instead of setting it right the first time. Curious if any of you set corners the day before or do you mix and lay everything in one shot?
