Switched to a line pin after 20 years of string lines

Bought a $30 line pin set up last month cause I was tired of my string sagging in the middle on long walls. After running a 40 foot foundation wall dead flat, I'm actually shocked at how much time I wasted fighting with stretchy string.

Holy crap, I think you just made me rethink my whole setup. But here's the thing nobody mentions... string lines can actually shift with wind or humidity way more than people admit. I've had a string line pull enough in a breeze to throw off a 16 foot wall by almost a quarter inch. A line pin locks everything in place no matter what the weather is doing. Plus on a hot day, that string can sag from heat expansion too. You were right to switch.

Heat sag is real. I switch to a laser once it hits 80 degrees.

Same deal with tape measures baking in the sun, they get stretchy too.
