Canned beans vs dried beans for budget chili which is actually worth it?

I did a side by side last month with a $3 bag of dried pintos versus $4.50 in canned and the dried ones tasted way better, but taking 3 hours to cook and soak felt like a whole chore. Has anyone else done this comparison and found a middle ground?

Honestly, three hours for beans is wild when you could just watch two movies in that time.
