Everyone says dried beans save money but nobody counts the hours, and my math says the can wins
I finally timed it last month. Soaking overnight, then 90 minutes on the stove for a pound of pintos, and I still burned the bottom of the pot because I walked away. That is almost two hours of my Sunday for maybe $1.50 in savings over three cans at Kroger. If your time is worth minimum wage, the dried beans are a losing deal, and I am tired of pretending otherwise. Am I the only one who runs this math, or do you all just really like standing over a pot?
