Fell for that 'buy in bulk' hype with beans and now I'm drowning in dry beans
I bought a giant 25lb bag of pinto beans from a restaurant supply store in Dallas thinking I'd save like $15 total on meal prep over the next year. But I didn't realize old beans take forever to cook and these are already two years old, still rock hard after six hours on the stove. Anyone else get burned by bulk buying without checking the age first?

Two years old?? That’s basically a crime against beans.

Man, I don't know @anthony_campbell88, I feel like two years on beans is maybe not that crazy. I've definitely had a bag of pintos in my pantry for like a year and a half that still cooked up fine, just needed a little extra soak time. People act like beans expire at midnight on their birthday or something, but they're dried legumes, not a carton of milk. I mean, sure, if they're all shriveled or have bugs, toss 'em, but two years seems pretty standard for a well-stored bag of beans.
