Hit $47.50 in wasted condiments last month - check your fridge now!

I added up all the half-used bottles of sauce and dressing I threw out and it came to $47.50. Has anyone else found a way to actually use up all those little extras before they go bad?

$47.50 in wasted condiments" - jeez that hurts but I feel it. I had a fridge cleanout last spring and found a bottle of hoisin sauce from a pandemic stir fry phase that had basically turned into its own ecosystem. The thing is I started keeping a little bin on the middle shelf labeled "use this soon" and it actually works for me. Every Sunday I grab whatever's in there and figure out a meal around it. Last week I had half a jar of sun dried tomatoes and a weird chili oil and ended up making this bomb pasta that I'd never have tried otherwise. Some stuff still goes bad but it cut my waste by like half I'd guess.

Man, that "use this soon" bin idea is genius. I'm definitely stealing that from you @taylorellis. The hoisin sauce ecosystem thing hit too close to home, I found a jar of pickled ginger from 2022 that I'm still not sure what to do with. That Sunday meal prep idea sounds like a real game changer, especially forcing yourself to get creative with random stuff like sun dried tomatoes. I'm gonna try it this weekend and see if it cuts down my fridge graveyard.
