Honestly, the new 'budget' section at my local grocery store is a joke

Tbh, I was at the Fresh Value on Oak Street yesterday and their 'value wall' is just a sad rack of instant noodles and off-brand soda. Ngl, a single bell pepper was still $1.89. How are you supposed to make a real meal from that? What's the best actual cheap grocery spot in your area?

You ever check the clearance produce rack by the back wall? That's where I find the real deals. Got a bag of slightly soft tomatoes for a dollar last week, made a whole pot of sauce. The "value" stuff up front is just for show, you gotta hunt for the actual markdowns.

Fresh Value's value wall is a total scam. The real deals are at the ethnic markets on the west side. You can get actual vegetables for half the price there.

Hey now, I gotta disagree! I shop at Fresh Value all the time and their value wall has saved me a ton. Sure, the west side markets are great, but they're way across town for me. For quick, decent produce that's actually close by, that wall is a real help. It's not a scam if it works for your schedule and your wallet.
