Hot take: instant rice is not worth it when a 20lb bag of regular rice exists

I keep seeing posts in here about saving time with the microwavable rice pouches, and I just don't get it. Last time I checked, the store brand pouch was like $2.50 for 2 servings. Meanwhile I grabbed a 20lb bag of long grain at the local Asian market in Cleveland for $14, and that's been feeding me and my roommate for six months now. Yeah it takes 20 minutes on the stove, but I just set a timer and do other stuff. What am I missing? Is the convenience really that big a deal for everyone else, or are people just not doing the math?
