Just realized frozen veggies are way better than fresh for meal prep
I used to swear by fresh produce but kept throwing away slimy bell peppers after 3 days. Switched to a $2 bag of frozen mixed vegetables last month and they actually taste better in stir fries. Anyone else find frozen stuff lasts longer and saves money?

Read an article that said frozen veggies are actually flash frozen at peak ripeness so they keep more nutrients than fresh ones that sit in a truck for days. Kinda makes you wonder why we bother with fresh for cooking.

Is that why frozen fruit tastes way better in smoothies than fresh stuff that's been sitting around? It's the same with a lot of stuff - we're so fixated on "fresh" being best, but the way things are stored and shipped really changes things. Like, fresh corn is amazing for like a day, then it's all starchy, but frozen corn is always sweet and crunchy. I guess there's a lot of stuff where the "fresh" version is mostly just marketing hype and we'd be better off with the frozen for everyday cooking.

The frozen corn thing is what got me actually. I used to be one of those people who would only buy fresh corn on the cob from the farmers market and turn my nose up at the frozen bags. Then my friend made me try her frozen corn in a recipe and I couldn't tell the difference... honestly it was better. Now I buy frozen peas and spinach all the time because they don't go bad in the back of my fridge. The blueberries too, I used to swear by fresh and they'd get moldy in like 3 days but frozen ones taste just as good in my oatmeal.
