Kicked myself for buying a $20 garlic press that broke in 2 months

I spent 20 bucks on a fancy garlic press from the kitchen store thinking it would last forever since it looked heavy duty. By the second month, the handle cracked when I was pressing a single clove... just fell apart in my hand. Now I'm back to smashing cloves with the flat side of my knife like I used to. That old method costs nothing and actually works better for me. Has anyone else had better luck with the cheap metal presses from the dollar store?

Oh man, I feel your pain - had the same thing happen with a "premium" garlic press last year. Have you tried just using a microplane grater instead? Works way better than any press I've used and theyre like 10 bucks at any kitchen store. I get why youd go back to the knife method though, its honestly just as fast once you get the hang of it.

That $20 press let us both down, glad the knife method is working out.
