My $2 bag of lentils turned into 8 meals and I'm still not sure how that math works

I bought a 1 pound bag of dried lentils for $1.89 at Aldi last Tuesday on a whim. Threw some in a pot with an onion and a bouillon cube. Three hours later I had enough soup to feed a small army. I kept scooping it out for lunch every day and it just kept going. By day 6 I was giving bowls to my neighbor. I swear it multiplied in the fridge. Did I accidentally buy magic lentils or is this just normal bean physics nobody tells you about?

Aldi lentils are straight up witchcraft, that's my only explanation.

You're overthinking this. A cup of dry lentils cooks up to about 3 cups, so 1 pound is roughly 6 cooked cups which easily makes 8 solid bowls of soup when you add broth and veggies. It's just normal bean physics, lentils are basically a cheat code for making food multiply.

Right? @casey_wood2 nailed it, lentils are basically budget sorcery for filling people up.
