My grandma's trick with a single potato in the 90s

I was helping her cook in her tiny kitchen in Akron, and she saw me about to throw out a half onion. She said, 'That's a whole other meal, just fry it with a potato.' We made a simple hash that fed us both for about 50 cents. What's a cheap food trick someone taught you that you still use?

Actually, that's a frittata, not a hash.

Hey @the_jamie, that's actually a scramble, not a frittata.
