My grocery bill dropped $40 a week when I stopped buying those pre-cut veggie trays.

I used to grab one every trip for quick snacks, but the markup is crazy. Now I spend 10 minutes on Sunday chopping my own carrots and celery. Anyone else find one habit that was secretly costing them a ton?

Honestly the plastic waste from those trays is a whole other cost. All that single use clamshell packaging adds up, and you're paying for it too. Feels better to just toss a few carrot peels in the compost instead of another big hunk of plastic in the bin. The money saved is great, but cutting down on trash is a nice bonus.

Totally get that, but heads up, carrots and celery actually lose some nutrients after you cut them (they start to break down faster). Still way cheaper to do it yourself though.

Why does everything good for you come with a catch?
