My grocery store started tagging clearance meat at 7am and it changed my whole meal plan
I stop by the Food Lion on 5th Street around 7am on my way to open the shop, and for the past few weeks I have noticed the meat guy slapping yellow stickers on stuff right at that time. Last Tuesday I grabbed a family pack of chicken thighs for $2.79 and a pork shoulder for $4.50, both marked down because they hit their sell-by date that day. I froze half of it and cooked the rest into a big pot of beans and rice that fed me lunch all week. Has anyone else figured out the exact hour their local store does markdowns, and is it usually this early or am I just getting lucky?
Wait, the meat guy is out there slapping yellow stickers at 7am sharp like it's some kind of scheduled event? That blows my mind because every store I've been to just does it whenever they feel like it, so you never know when to show up. You basically cracked the code on cheap protein and I'm jealous.
