My neighbor swore by frozen veggies over fresh for saving money

Old guy down the street told me frozen broccoli and spinach are just as good as fresh and cost half as much. I tried swapping them in my stir-fry last week and honestly couldn't tell the difference, saved like $4 on that one meal. Has anyone else made the switch permanently?

...and that's the thing nobody talks about. Frozen spinach is basically pre-wilted so you can just dump it in, but what about the texture when you're eating it UNCOOKED? Did your neighbor tell you if frozen actually works for salads and stuff, or is it strictly a cooking thing? Because I've tried thawing frozen peas for a cold pasta salad and they came out kinda mushy, not the same snap you get from fresh. Like, sure, save the money on stuff you're gonna heat up anyway, but I gotta know if people are really swapping them EVERYWHERE or just in certain dishes.

Used to be a fresh or nothing snob about veggies. Frozen spinach in pasta sauce converted me for good.
