My neighbor's $2 lentil soup made me question my whole grocery list
Last Tuesday my neighbor knocked on my door with a pot of lentil soup she made for like $2 total. I was about to order takeout for $15 and she said 'you know beans and rice feed a family for a week, right?' It hit different because she's a single mom of 3 and eats better than me on half the budget. I asked her for the recipe and now I'm trying to add one cheap staple meal per week. Anyone else had a moment where someone showed you how simple cheap eating can actually be?

A buddy of mine used to blow $80 a week on meal kits until his roommate started meal prepping with a giant pot of chili. He watched that guy stretch one batch into five lunches and suddenly the math clicked for him. Now he swears by a cheap freezer shelf and says his grocery bill dropped by half, which is saying a lot since he used to eat out daily.
